Hand & Wrist Surgery

The hand and wrist are essential for daily activities, and conditions like nerve compression, arthritis, or tendon disorders can significantly impact quality of life. Mr A'Court provides expert care for carpal tunnel syndrome, performing decompression surgery to relieve numbness and weakness in the fingers. Patients with Dupuytren’s contracture—a condition causing fingers to bend irreversibly—can undergo corrective procedures to restore hand function.

Trigger finger release is another common treatment, addressing painful tendon locking. For those with thumb base arthritis, surgical options include joint stabilisation or replacement to restore grip strength and reduce discomfort.

Elbow Surgery

Elbow pain and dysfunction can arise from nerve compression, tendon damage, or joint degeneration. Mr A'Court offers specialised treatments such as ulnar nerve decompression (for cubital tunnel syndrome), which alleviates tingling and weakness in the hand.

Patients with chronic tennis elbow or golfer’s elbow may require surgical release to relieve persistent tendon pain. For those with elbow stiffness, loose bodies, or early arthritis, elbow arthroscopy—a minimally invasive keyhole technique—allows for precise diagnosis and treatment with minimal scarring and faster recovery.

Shoulder

Shoulder Surgery

The shoulder is a highly mobile joint, making it susceptible to injuries, wear and tear, and degenerative conditions. Mr Jamie A'Court specialises in both arthroscopic (keyhole) procedures and open surgical techniques to treat a wide range of shoulder problems. For patients with rotator cuff tears, he performs precise repairs to restore strength and function.

Those suffering from recurrent shoulder dislocations benefit from stabilisation procedures, while individuals with frozen shoulder can regain mobility through targeted releases. Additionally, biceps tendon disorders are treated with either tenotomy (release) or tenodesis (reattachment) depending on the patient’s needs. For advanced arthritis or complex fractures, shoulder replacement surgery—including both total and partial joint replacements—provides lasting pain relief and improved movement.

Medico-Legal Services

Beyond clinical practice, Mr Jamie A'Court is a recognised medico-legal expert, providing over 200 independent medical reports annually involving the upper limb. His services include detailed condition assessments, prognosis evaluations, and expert witness testimony for legal cases.
